Massa confirms talks with Williams over 2014 Formula 1 drive

Felipe Massa has confirmed he is in talks with Williams about a possible 2014 Formula 1 drive

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to the team and is understood to be a contender for a seat thanks to his experience and the commercial benefits he could bring.

Although he refused to comment on his future, he did state that Williams is one of several teams he is talking to.

"Sometimes you hear so many things about you and at the right time I will comment about that," said Massa when asked by AUTOSPORT about the possibility of driving for Williams.

"I am talking with a few teams, including Williams, but I have nothing to say at the moment."

Massa remains confident he will be on the grid next season but stressed he is not interested in driving for a small team.

Don't forget how good Massa was

While Williams has scored only one point this season, its size and potential means it would be an attractive move for the 32-year-old.

"I'm pretty much confident that I am going to find an interesting direction," he said.

"Until you are sure, it is always a little risk, but I am positive that I can find this and I am working for that.

"I will not go to a small team, I will go to the team that has some possibilities to do a good car and I hope I can find this solution."

'NOT A PAY DRIVER'

Massa also stressed he has no interest in being a pay driver, although he is willing to be part of a wider commercial package for a team that wants to sign him.

"I am not a paying driver, so I will not go to the team just because I have a sponsor," he said.

"I will go to a team for my experience, for what I showed already in my career.

"I hope I can find a direction to get a chance in a team that wants to have me for what I am and not for what I can give in terms of money.

"[Being part of a commercial package] is not bringing money to the team, this I helping to find a good direction.

"What I can do to help a team, I am helping myself. Whatever you can have to improve the situation, to improve the development, to do the best you can for the team by using your name is definitely welcome."
