Ed Jones replaces Felix Serralles in Fortec Macau F3 GP line-up
European Formula 3 Open title contender Ed Jones has replaced Felix Serralles in Fortec Motorsport's line-up for next month's Macau Grand Prix
Dubai racer Jones, who had a one-off outing in one of Fortec's Dallara-Mercedes in May's Hockenheim round of the FIA F3 European Championship, will rejoin the team's F3 squad for a Silverstone test this Friday.
The 18-year-old has a long history with Fortec, stretching from InterSteps in 2011 through Formula Renault Eurocup campaigns in 2012 and '13. He has dovetailed his Renault season this year with his F3 Open activities.
Fortec F3 team manager Andi Scott said: "Ninety per cent of Macau is down to preparation, and never having been there before is obviously a disadvantage for Ed. But if he goes with the right approach I don't see any reason why he can't run in the top 10.
"He has come a long way since he raced with us at Hockenheim. He's much more used to the F312 now from F3 Open, and he also had a good test with Prema a couple of weeks ago."
Jones will join Nelson Mason, his team-mate in Team West-Tec's F3 Open line-up, in the Macau entry list. Canadian Mason will drive the Dallara-Mercedes of Jo Zeller Racing.
No official reason has been given for Serralles - who retired due to accidents in seven of the last nine European F3 races this year - skipping Macau.
