EuroInternational eyes Auto GP
Junior single-seater stalwart EuroInternational is interested in joining Auto GP for 2014 and could participate in the series' close season test at Jerez on October 28-29
Team boss Antonio Ferrari, who fields the Red Bull backed Tom Blomqvist in the Formula 3 European Championship this season, stated that Auto GP's estimated 300,000 prize fund for 2014 has added to the championship's appeal.
"Auto GP would be the best choice for us next season," said Ferrari. "The car is really good and we have the infrastructure needed to start this new challenge.
"There are a lot of young drivers interested and we're in contact with some of them. We hope to seal a deal for the test in October. Also, the return of prize money is very helpful for teams and drivers."
EuroInternational has extensive experience in single-seaters, having operated teams in the United States, Europe and Asia and achieved championship successes in Formula BMW and Formula Renault V6.
It fielded a CART Indycar entry as Euromotorsport from 1989-94, and also entered the Indy Racing League during its early years.
"EuroInternational is one of the most successful Italian teams, and their history somehow recalls the one of Scuderia Coloni," said Auto GP series organiser Enzo Coloni.
"It would be a pleasure for Auto GP to welcome another high-profile squad for the 2014 season."
