Stefan Wilson to make IndyCar debut with Coyne in Baltimore

Stefan Wilson will make his IndyCar debut with Dale Coyne Racing alongside brother Justin in Baltimore in early September

The 23-year-old, who finished third in the 2011 Indy Lights championship, tested with the team at Barber in March, and said that he was thrilled to finally have an opportunity to race.

"I've known for the past week that I would be racing in Baltimore, and its been so hard to keep it bottled up inside," said the 2007 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner.

"Not only will I be making my debut in the IndyCar Series, but it will mark the first time that I will be competing against my older brother Justin. It's very cool that we will be working together as team-mates."

Justin said that he was equally relishing the prospect of working alongside his sibling.

"I am very happy for Stefan and this great opportunity he has," he said. "It should be a lot of fun racing against each other as we both have similar driving styles."

Team owner Dale Coyne noted the effort that Wilson had put into trying to secure the necessary backing.

"We are very excited to have Stefan in the #18," he said. "He is a very talented young driver and I know that he has been working really hard this year trying to put together a sponsorship deal.

"This also marks another first for Dale Coyne Racing by having two brothers racing at the same time for the team."

Coyne's team will give another driver his debut at Mid-Ohio this weekend in the form of James Davison.

He and Wilson become the fourth and fifth drivers respectively to have secured a race in the second Coyne car this season, joining Ana Beatriz, Mike Conway and Pippa Mann.
