BTCC driver Tom Onslow-Cole keen to add GT career, plans Aston race
British Touring Car frontrunner Tom Onslow-Cole hopes to be able to expand his career into GT racing as he prepares to race a GT3 car for the first time
Onslow-Cole, who currently lies ninth in the BTCC standings with his Team Hard VW Passat, will race an Aston Martin Vantage V12 with Paul White and marque MD John Gaw in the British Endurance Championship at Brands Hatch on July 27-28.
The 26-year-old tested a similar car earlier in the year and recently raced a GT4 Vantage at the Aston Martin Centenary meeting.
The seven-time BTCC race winner hopes he will now be able to move towards more GT racing.
"If I can add a GT3 programme on to the BTCC, whether it's British GT, the Blancpain Endurance Series or selected events, that would be great," said Onslow-Cole.
"I want to get into the world of endurance and doing it with Aston Martin would be ideal.
"[The current GT deal] is a one-off at the moment. I'm looking forward to it - it's great to get a run in a proper GT3 car.
"I want to be a world champion. World Touring Cars is an option, GTs is a strong way to go at the moment and it can give me that too."
