Norisring Euro F3: Rosenqvist sure he will inherit win via appeal

Rosenqvist's Mucke Motorsport Dallara-Mercedes was found to have a non-conforming fuel sample, and the Swede is starting all three races this weekend under appeal from grid positions earned in qualifying.

The alternative would be to accept the scrutineers' verdict and start from the rear of the grid.

Rosenqvist finished second behind Raffaele Marciello, who was one of 12 drivers to be penalised 20 seconds for yellow-flag offences.

He would inherit the win over Tom Blomqvist if the appeal is successful.

"We made an appeal," said Rosenqvist. "If I win, which I know we will, then we will be first. For me this is just some bullshit that doesn't matter."

AUTOSPORT understands that the yellow-flag offences - for improving sector times - were committed after Tatiana Calderon parked her car off the side of the track after the first hairpin.

Sources suggest that this was right across the line delineating sector one from sector two.

Some drivers are also claiming that on the lap their offences were committed, just before the safety car was called, the yellow flags had been replaced by a yellow light, and that the sector-time ruling does not apply in this situation. But officials claim that the yellow flags were still out.

Rosenqvist, the only on-the-road top-seven finisher not to be penalised, said: "It's always easy to go quicker under yellow flags, but I always tried to keep it within the margins.

"I was already thinking in the car that something might happen [after the race]. I tried to be clever."
