Pocono Indy Lights: Andretti's Carlos Munoz utterly dominant

Carlos Munoz was a class apart in the Indy Lights race at Pocono; the Colombian cruising to an emphatic win at the 2.5 mile tri-oval

The Andretti driver crossed the line 16.3 seconds ahead of Sage Karam, and in the process reclaimed the points lead that he had lost during a disastrous race at Iowa Speedway a fortnight ago.

"The car was really fast right from first practice," he said. "It was flat all through the race and it was really nice - it's good to have a victory after the bad weekend at Iowa."

With Munoz having vanished into the distance, Karam's main concern became Schmidt team-mate Gabby Chaves, who managed to jump him for second off the line.

Karam later reclaimed the position but was never able to shake Chaves off, and the battle became more intense as the race entered its final stages.

The pair swapped places several times, at one point making contact when Chaves left it fractionally too late to pull out of Karam's tow and damaging his front wing against the rear of Karam's car. That took just enough of the sting out of Chaves' fight to settle the battle in Karam's favour.

Andretti's Zach Veach was fourth, albeit some distance down the road, ahead of Jack Hawksworth and Juan Pablo Garcia.

Peter Dempsey recovered from a brush with the wall to finish in seventh ahead of Jorge Goncalvez.
