Tom Boardman to skip Argentina WTCC round
Tom Boardman will skip the World Touring Car Championship's forthcoming event in Argentina as a result of the damage he suffered in race one in Porto
The Briton only returned to the WTCC fold in Portugal, having missed the previous two events in Austria and Russia due to lingering engine problems with his Special Tuning Racing SEAT.
Damage sustained in a race-one collision with ROAL BMW's Darryl O'Young however means he will miss a third event.
The team will now check the car over in the UK before shipping it straight to Sonoma ahead of the US round in early September.
In order to travel to Argentina, cars needed to be readied by Monday ahead of a Thursday shipping date.
"I don't know what to make of it really," Boardman told AUTOSPORT. "It's just a crazy run of luck.
"I blame Darryl for the crash though, totally. It was the last lap, and he goes for a crazy lunge while fighting for 12th. He wasn't even that close to me when he started the move.
"It's damaged a lot - the dampers, the callipers, the whole side of the car really."
Boardman was sent into the wall at Turn 10 following the pair's contact, and was unable to start the second contest as a result.
The collision was investigated by stewards, although it was deemed to be a racing accident.
