Stefano Coletti troubled by lack of feature race win in GP2

GP2 championship leader Stefano Coletti admits the lack of a feature race win still troubles him, despite his points cushion going up to 24 by the end of the Monaco weekend.

Coletti has now won three races this season, but all have come from the partially-reversed grids of the sprint races.

He qualified on pole for the feature event in Malaysia, only to struggle with tyre wear and fall to third.

Since then, the Rapax driver has not been in the top four at all in qualifying, and in Monaco he was only 14th on the grid.

"We need to improve the car in qualifying and be spot on for one lap and be on pole position," said Coletti.

"After that, winning a feature race [is the target].

"We were on the podium many times and we still won the sprint race starting from the back.

"Winning race two is great, but we still need to get those 25 points in race one. That will be the objective for Silverstone."

Coletti admitted his home win in Monaco came as a huge surprise given both his poor qualifying form and the fact that he was caught up in the 15-car first-lap crash in race one's original start.

He was able to rejoin for the restart and came through to finish sixth, then won from third on the grid on Saturday.

"After the start of the weekend, we looked really bad," said Coletti. "I qualified P14. After the crash in Turn 1, I thought my weekend was over.

"In the end, we recovered. And then we won. It's simply amazing."
