Silverstone BES: Aston Martin adds factory entry
Aston Martin Racing will field a full factory car in next weekend's British round of the Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone
A solo Aston Martin V12 Vantage has been entered for the race on June 2 in preparation from AMR's proposed assault on the Spa 24 Hours Blancpain blue-riband at the end of July.
The car, which finished 10th in the Nurburgring 24 Hours last Sunday and Monday, will raced by AMR factory drivers Darren Turner, Stefan Mucke and Frederic Makowiecki.
AMR team principal John Gaw said: "After the car came through the 24 Hours at the 'Ring intact and didn't use all its mileage, because it was parked in the garage for eight hours overnight [after the race was red-flagged courtesy of rain and fog], it made sense to do Silverstone. It is the perfect preparation for Spa."
Gaw stressed that AMR's deal to run at Spa on July 27/28 in conjunction with the Belgian GPR Racing squad had yet to be signed off.
AMR has yet to announce who would take two of the seats in the factory Spa entry alongside long-time Aston driver Turner.
Mucke will drive the AMR-run Beachdean Vantage in the 24 Hours, while Makowiecki is unavailable because he is racing for the Dome Honda team in Super GT at Sugo that weekend.
