Kraihamer lands Lotus LMP2 drive for World Endurance Championship

Dominik Kraihamer will race the new Lotus T128 LMP2 contender in this year's World Endurance Championship

The Austrian, who last year drove with OAK Racing in LMP1 in the WEC, has signed to race for the Kodewa-run Lotus LMP2 squad alongside team regular Thomas Holzer.

Kraihamer, 23, said: "Lotus is a legend in motor racing. For me as an Austrian, the history that Jochen Rindt had with the make is inspiring.

"I followed the team last year [when it ran Lola chassis] and I'm very pleased to work with such an experienced and professional squad through the whole season."

A third driver for the car, which will be powered by Lotus-badged Judd V8 engine, is expected to be announced within the next two weeks.

Kraihamer started racing in the FIA GT3 European Championship at the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo in 2008, moved to the one-make Formula Le Mans prototype series with DAMS in 2009 and then into the LMP2 with the Boutsen team in 2011.

The Lotus T128 is due to have its first test at the official WEC test day at Paul Ricard at the end of next week. It is expected that only one car will be ready in time to make the trip.

Lotus LMP2 has already confirmed James Rossiter, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Kevin Weeda for its other WEC entry.
