Super Nova signs Antonio Spavone and Vittorio Ghirelli for Auto GP
Reigning Auto GP champion Super Nova has announced an all-Italian driver line-up of Antonio Spavone and Vittorio Ghirelli for the 2013 season
The Norfolk team is also evaluating entering a third car.
Naples racer Spavone competed for Euro Nova and Ombra in his maiden Auto GP year in 2012, finishing 10th in the standings.
"I'm really proud to be chosen by Super Nova this season," said 18-year-old Spavone. "I'm still very young and this is my opportunity to show who I am.
"You don't always get the opportunity to be with a team that won the championship the previous season, and one which has the pedigree of Super Nova. I hope to take my chances, and have nothing to lose."
Formula Renault 3.5 graduate Ghirelli, also 18, posted competitive times in Auto GP winter testing, topping a Barcelona test for Super Nova last December.
"I am sure [Super Nova] is the right place to be," said Ghirelli. "Their experience and knowhow is very high, and the team has a winning atmosphere. Therefore, I'm really looking forward to the first race meeting in Monza."
Series organisers predict a 16-car grid for round one at Monza on March 23-24.
