Marc Marquez says Sepang crash part of learning process

Marc Marquez said his Sepang testing crash on Thursday was an important part of his MotoGP learning process

The Moto2 champion was rapid throughout his first fully-fledged test as a factory Honda MotoGP rider.

But Marquez encountered his first blip when he crashed at the final corner of the Malaysian track on the last morning.

"I had the first crash with a MotoGP bike. But we know why I crashed and the important thing is to understand it," Marquez told the official MotoGP website.

"We knew the first crash would come eventually. And now I know a bit better where the limit of the front tyre is.

"So bit by bit we are learning about everything."

The 19-year-old Spaniard said the most pleasing thing about the test was his consistency.

"I am very happy with the results that we have had from these three days, above all because I gradually got more consistent with my times," he said.

"This was what we were looking for from this test. Day by day we improved our times, but this is secondary really.

"The important thing is that we did our first race simulation, which has helped me to understand the class and the bike better and his given us a lot of information for the next test."
