Dennis van de Laar joins Formula 3 European Championship grid
Dennis van de Laar will compete in the Formula 3 European Championship this year with Van Amersfoort Racing
The 19-year-old Dutchman finished ninth in German F3 with the team and then made his European debut at the Hockenheim season finale, at which he took a best finish of 14th.
"It is a great challenge for me to compete against the best Formula 3 drivers in the world," he said.
"I pick up the gauntlet and have faith in good results. Last season I learned a lot and I hope I will be able to apply this experience in the European championship."
Team boss Frits van Amersfoort added: "We are looking forward to the new season.
"Participation in the Formula 3 European Championship is the challenge my team was looking for after many years in Germany.
"The grid is substantial and competitive, so it's going to be a real challenge. After guest appearances in the Euro Series last season we know we can be competitive."
The team, which currently has two entries confirmed for the series, is in negotiations with several drivers for the second seat and could even expand to a three-car line-up.
New Zealander Richie Stanaway, who won the 2011 German F3 title for the team, and Dutchman Pieter Schothorst have both been linked to the remaining seats.
