Eddie Cheever joins Prema's line-up for European F3
Eddie Cheever has completed Prema Powerteam's line-up for this year's European Formula 3 Championship
The 19-year-old Italian, whose father Eddie scored nine podiums during his Formula 1 career and won the Indianapolis 500, will partner Raffaele Marciello, Alex Lynn and Lucas Auer in the four-car squad of Dallara-Mercedes F312s.
Team principal Angelo Rosin is confident that the experienced Cheever gained in Italian F3 over the past two seasons will make him a strong proposition in the European championship.
"I'm proud to continue with Eddie. He performed great in the Italian championship and, at that point, moving to the European series seemed like a logical step in our great partnership," Rosin said.
"Cheever will be a rookie but since he's following the same path of Marciello, I'm sure he will impress us too. He has the maturity he needs to make it in this year's competition".
Cheever, who finished second in last year's Italian F3 points, said: "I'm very happy and honoured to continue with Prema for 2013. I hope to repeat the successful 2012 results in such a competitive championship like the European championship".
Prema won last year's European championship and Euro Series with Daniel Juncadella. In 2011 Roberto Merhi took both the Euro Series and the International F3 Trophy.
