Hungary F2: Markus Pommer dominates race two

The German started from pole, and held the lead into the first corner, from where he was never challenged.

But it was his consistency and speed that were the astonishing factors, regularly lapping over one second quicker than anyone else.

Indeed, in the final few laps of the 22-lap race the ex-German Formula 3 racer was still lapping only a few tenths shy of his best lap of the race.

"I felt like a robot out there, the car was brilliant," said Pommer.

Matheo Tuscher had a lonely drive to second place, unable to match the pace of Pommer. Dino Zamparelli managed to pass Kevin Mirocha around the outside of Turn 2 on the opening lap to finish in third position and secure his second podium of the season.

The highlight of the race was Alex Fontana's attack on Mirocha. After passing Mirocha for the lead in Saturday's race, Fontana had a few attempts to get past the Pole, but some forceful defending from Mirocha ensured he held on to fourth.

Christopher Zanella and Mihai Marinescu finished in sixth and seventh, while Luciano Bacheta failed to seal the championship after finishing eighth, a position he exchanged a few times with Daniel McKenzie.

The finale at Monza will see a three-way fight for the title. Bacheta is still favourite, with a 33.5 point lead over Tuscher, with Pommer 10 points further back.
