Hungary F2: Markus Pommer puts race one frustration behind with Sunday pole

Markus Pommer secured pole position for the second Formula 2 race of the weekend at Hungaroring, with a blistering lap towards the end of the qualifying session

After the frustration of a boost-valve failure forcing him into the pits at the end of the formation lap on Saturday - robbing him of a front row start - the German driver ended the session 0.37 seconds ahead of race one winner Alex Fontana.

Mihai Marinescu finished third quickest, but after taking out Matheo Tuscher in Saturday's race he will have to take a five-place grid drop.

That will promote Tuscher to third, but the Swiss driver was disappointed with his qualifying, when a mistake in the final sector saw him lose six seconds after being the quickest man in the first two splits.

Dino Zamparelli qualified fifth quickest ahead of Zanella and Saturday's polesitter Kevin Mirocha.

Luciano Bacheta could only manage eighth quickest, meaning he is unlikely to seal the championship in the race, unless Tuscher runs into serious trouble.

Dan McKenzie and David Zhu complete the top 10.
