Sauber Says Heidfeld is Staying in 2003

Germany's Nick Heidfeld will remain at the Sauber Formula One team in 2003, team boss Peter Sauber said on Friday in Germany.

"We will take up the option on Nick," the Swiss told a news conference at the German Grand Prix, where his driver posted the 13th quickest time in practice.

26-year old Heidfeld joined Sauber at the end of 2000 from Prost, where he endured a very disappointing Formula Ona debut. The German has been linked with Toyota in media speculation in recent weeks.

Heidfeld is currently tied in eighth place in the drivers' standings having scored six points.
